Being a mom ain't easy

Baby Shower

untitledI had my baby shower about a month ago. I have been meaning to post this, but alas my schedule has kept me busy. Plus, I have been waiting on the pictures that my cousin took and after a month there is still no sign so I’m going ahead with my posting anyway.

I have to say that I can’t remBaby-Shower-Gift-Idea-for-Boys-bath-time-giftember a day quite as amazing as my shower. I am 37 years old and have never wanted anything more than a baby and a family. I have attended many a shower and helped out with other people’s children for years, but there is something magical about having your own.

There was about 20 people at my shower, friends, family, friends that I consider family, and they were all there for one reason and one reason only.  To celebrate me and my baby… oh and I guess my boyfriend 🙂

It was beautiful. I mean we did the silly games like guessing how big my belly Pastel-Blue-Baby-Shower-Cupcakeshad gotten.. which 3 people were right on the mark. I was shocked. We had cupcakes and diaper cakes and presents and all of that was fun.. and needed, believe me.. Almost every big-ticket item on my registry was supplied and in this economy we needed that. Now we can concentrate on onesies and diapers.. I hear they go through a lot of those!

But it was more than just fun. I have always been the person that people came to for things. I would be there to help with other people’s parties, other baby-shower-decorationspeople’s showers, babysitting, what have you. I have never even had a birthday party. This was such an honour to have all of these people there to celebrate my happy occasion. To know that they were there to support and love me. It was very awe-inspiring and believe me… by the 3rd trimester, when hormones are all a raging.. any amount of support is greatly appreciated.

This was just more than I could have imagined. I don’t have a mother. I don’t have a grandmother. I have never really felt like I was celebrated the way I was on January 12, 2013. But the best part is that I know my son is already being celebrated.. and he’s not even born yet!
